Help Center › vCard Download
Overview
When someone visits your NFC Tagify profile, they can save your contact details directly to their phone or computer with one tap. This works through a standard file format called a vCard. No app, no account, and no extra steps are needed — it works the same way on iPhones, Android phones, Windows PCs, and Macs.
---
What is a vCard?
A vCard is a widely supported file format for storing contact information. Files use the .vcf extension (short for vCard File). When someone opens a .vcf file, their phone or computer recognises it and offers to save the details as a new contact.
vCard is supported natively by:
- iPhone / iOS — opens in the Contacts app
- Android — opens in the default Contacts or People app
- Windows — opens in the People app or Outlook
- Mac / macOS — opens in the Contacts app
- Gmail / Google Contacts — can be imported via Google Contacts (contacts.google.com → Import)
- Outlook — supported on both desktop and web versions
The format has been a universal standard for contact exchange for many years, so compatibility is broad.

How to save a contact from a profile
When a recipient visits your NFC Tagify profile in their browser, they will see an "Add to Contacts" section or button on the page. The exact label may appear as "Save Contact", "Add to Contacts", or similar.

What is included in the vCard
The .vcf file includes the contact information you have set on your profile. This typically covers:
- Full name
- Job title
- Company name
- Mobile phone number(s)
- Email address(es)
- Website URL
- Business address (if added to your profile)
- Profile photo (embedded in the vCard where supported)
- Social media links (where the vCard format supports them)
[NEEDS VERIFICATION: exact fields exported to the vCard — particularly whether all social links and custom links are included, or only standard contact fields]
Fields you have left blank on your profile will not appear in the vCard.

Important: the vCard is a snapshot
The vCard file contains a copy of your contact information at the time it was downloaded. It is not a live link.
This means:
- If you update your job title or phone number in the portal after someone has already saved your vCard, their saved contact will still show the old information
- They would need to download the vCard again to get the updated details
- Your profile URL, however, is always live — anyone who visits your profile link will always see the current information
For recipients who want to stay up to date, the best approach is to bookmark or save your profile link, rather than (or in addition to) saving the vCard.

Frequently asked questions
Does the recipient need an account to save my contact?
No. Saving a contact via vCard download requires no login, no account, and no app. It works in any browser on any device.
The download happened but nothing opened on their phone — what should they do?
They should open their phone's Files or Downloads app, find the .vcf file, and tap it. On most phones this will immediately prompt them to save the contact. If the file does not open in the Contacts app, they may need to check their default app settings.
Can I control which fields are included in the vCard?
The vCard export uses the information on your profile. To control what is included, update or remove fields on your profile in the portal. [NEEDS VERIFICATION: whether there is a separate per-field toggle for vCard inclusion]
Will the contact photo appear on their phone?
Most modern smartphones and email clients support contact photos embedded in vCard files. Whether it displays depends on the recipient's app. It works reliably on iOS and most Android Contacts apps.
Can I download my own vCard?
Yes. You can visit your own public profile URL and use the "Add to Contacts" button just like any other visitor. This is useful for testing how it looks before sharing your card.
What if the recipient uses Google Contacts?
Google Contacts supports vCard import. The recipient can go to [contacts.google.com](https://contacts.google.com), click Import, and upload the .vcf file. The contact will then sync across all their Google-connected devices.
