Help Center › NFC Tap
Overview
An NFC card stores a URL. When someone taps the card with their phone (NFC enabled), the phone opens that URL in the browser — your profile. No app is required. The card must be linked to your profile before it works.
Linking Your Card
Before you can use an NFC card, you must link it to a profile:
/nfc-link or from onboarding if you have a pending card). You may be directed there after ordering or when you have a card to link.?id=xxx) or from a previous scan.Security
- A card can only be linked to one user. If a card is already registered to another account, you cannot link it again.
- The system checks card status before showing the linking option. Cards that belong to someone else are not shown as available.
After Linking
Once linked, anyone who taps the card will open your profile. The card stores a URL that points to your profile. You do not need to do anything else unless you want to change which profile the card opens.
Changing the Linked Profile
To link the card to a different profile, go to the profile's Settings tab (or NFC Card section). You can unlink and re-link, or use the NFC linking flow again with the same card ID to change the target profile.
Troubleshooting
- Card won't link — Ensure the card ID is correct. It is usually 10–50 characters, alphanumeric. If the card was scanned, check that the full ID was captured.
- Card already registered — The card is linked to another account. You need a different card.
- Tap does nothing — Ensure the recipient's phone has NFC enabled and is unlocked. Some phones require the screen to be on.
