Help Center › Custom Domains - Branding and Profile URLs

Overview

A custom domain lets your company's digital business cards appear on your own domain instead of the main platform. For example, instead of id.nfctagify.com/?id=abc123, your profiles can appear at cards.yourcompany.com/?id=abc123. This strengthens your brand and keeps your contact links under your control.

What a Custom Domain Does for Branding

Your domain, your brand

  • Profile URLs — When someone opens your profile link, scans your QR code, or taps your NFC card, they see your company's domain in the browser address bar.
  • Trust — Recipients recognise your domain. No third-party platform name in the URL.
  • Consistency — All your team's profiles share the same domain. Printed materials, email signatures, and business cards stay consistent.

What changes

| Without custom domain | With custom domain |

|----------------------|--------------------|

| id.nfctagify.com/?id=abc123 | cards.yourcompany.com/?id=abc123 |

| Platform branding in URL | Your company domain in URL |

| Same profile content | Same profile content |

The profile content (name, photo, contact details) is the same. Only the domain changes.

Reseller domains

If your company is on a reseller's platform (e.g. a white-label partner), your profiles may already appear on the reseller's domain. A company custom domain takes priority: when you add your own domain, your profiles move there. If you remove it, they fall back to the reseller or main platform.

Who Can Set Up a Custom Domain

Company admins only. You need company admin permissions to add or manage a custom domain. Individual users and department admins cannot change this setting.

---

How to Set Up a Custom Domain

  • Go to SettingsCustom Domain
  • Enter your domain (e.g. cards.yourcompany.com or contact.yourcompany.com)
  • Add the DNS records shown (CNAME and TXT) at your domain registrar or DNS provider
  • Wait for verification. The system checks that the records are correct.
  • Once verified, your profiles will use the new domain for links, QR codes, and NFC taps.
  • DNS setup

    You will receive:

    • CNAME record — Points your subdomain (e.g. cards) to the platform. Required for routing.
    • TXT record(s) — Used for ownership and SSL verification. Add these exactly as shown.

Verification can take a few minutes to a few hours depending on DNS propagation.

    What Uses Your Custom Domain

Once your custom domain is active, it is used for:

    • Profile links — Copy link, share link, and any URL that opens a profile
    • QR codes — QR codes generated for your profiles encode the custom domain URL
    • NFC cards — Tapping an NFC card opens the profile on your custom domain
    • vCard and wallet passes — Links inside vCards and wallet passes point to your domain
    • Print File Designer — When generating business cards, the Profile QR Code field uses your custom domain

    ---

Removing or Changing a Custom Domain

    • Remove — In Settings → Custom Domain, remove the domain. Profiles will fall back to the reseller domain (if applicable) or the main platform.
    • Change — Remove the current domain, then add the new one. Update DNS at your registrar for the new domain.

Note: Old links and QR codes that use the previous domain will stop working once the domain is removed. Consider updating printed materials before removing a domain.

    Tips and FAQ

Do I need to own the domain?

Yes. You must control the DNS for the domain (or subdomain) you add. Common choices: cards.yourcompany.com, contact.yourcompany.com, me.yourcompany.com.

    Can I use a root domain (e.g. yourcompany.com)?

Typically you use a subdomain (e.g. cards.yourcompany.com). Root domains have special DNS requirements; subdomains are simpler to set up.

Does this affect my existing QR codes?

Yes. New QR codes will use the custom domain. Old QR codes that point to the previous domain will keep working only as long as that domain is active.
