Where to Tap NFC
How and Where to Tap Your NFC Card
1. Where Is the NFC Chip on the Card?
The NFC chip location depends on the card material:
- PVC & Wooden Cards: NFC works from both sides of the card.
- Metal Cards: NFC works only from the back side, exactly where the chip area is located. This is usually visible on the right side of the back, or in the centre if the chip is hidden.

If you tap the wrong side of a metal card, the phone will not react.
2. Where to Tap on the Phone
- iPhone: Tap the card on the top edge of the phone (near the camera area). This is the only place where the NFC antenna works.

- Android: Tap the card on the middle of the back of the phone. This is where the NFC antenna is located on most Android devices.

Important: If you tap the card anywhere else on the phone, nothing will happen.
3. What Happens If the Card Is Empty?
- Android phones: Tapping an empty NFC card usually opens a message like “NFC tag is empty” or a similar notice.
- iPhones: Tapping an empty NFC card does nothing. No message appears.
This is normal behaviour and does not mean the card or phone is faulty.
4. NFC Settings on Your Phone
- Android: NFC must be turned ON in the phone settings. If NFC is off, the card will not work at all.
- iPhone: NFC is always enabled by default. No setting is required.
5. If It Still Doesn’t Work
- Make sure you are tapping the correct side of the card
- Tap the correct area of the phone
- Hold the card steady for 1–2 seconds
- Check that the card has been encoded
Most issues are caused by tapping the wrong area on the phone or card.
